Each day as I check the 90210 message board, I am seeing how a lot of the topics that were proposed months ago are still being discussed today. One topic titled 'the worst character ever on 90210 is...' was first published on August 31 yet the last response for it was on December 3rd. It amazes me each time I sign on to this site how members are eagerly responding to old topics, multiple times, writing back to each person as if they were friends.
I've also noticed how much this message board has allowed members to form social relationships with each other. Members refer to other members using their usernames and calling them each time by that. Their true identity is never revealed, but their online identity is fully in use.
Newbies have been really accepted on this board. For example when brendawalshfanatic wrote her first post and said I am new, another person greeted her right away

Welcome to the board. Many of us have complained (loudly and often) about the same points you have mentioned. |
and another person also welcomed her:

welcome to the board. |
these are common occurrences where members eagerly welcome new members and encourage them to participate in the discussion.
i think being a part of this message board has allowed me to see how strong virtual communities are and how much they really allow people to communicate with each other and form online relationships.
At least the people are friendly and active. Its nice to see that they are interested in making new friends and trying to get you to contribute more the message board. I'm sure for a lot of these people, this kind of communication is a huge part of their life. It makes me feel fortunate that for almost every show I watch, I have friends that watch it also to discuss instead of going online
