Because it's right around the end of the semester, I decided to something a little risky in order to test the credibility of Wikipedia. I edited five pages, some small and some larger, but in each page, I falsified information with the hopes of understanding how long it takes for mistakes to be corrected by other editors. I accessed all of the changed sites randomly and tended to choose pages that dealt with topics I could easily manipulate. In some pages, I only changed a handful of facts or certain phrases while leaving the rest of my submission accurate. I also added references to a couple pages (that would then prove that my submissions were incorrect) to see if this made any difference in determining how long the information would stay up. In other pages, I tried to more drastically present information as false and in one particular page, I copied information directly from someone's personal review as opposed to a legitimate site. Over the next few days, I am planning on checking in on these five pages to see what does and does not get deleted.. should be interesting. =)
The pages I changed were: Soundstage (TV Series), From Doon with Death, Union City Dodgers, Selma High School, Danehill, East Sussex.
