Embarrassing Myself

Where: My couch (duh)
When: Sunday night, 7:40-10:40pm

-worked on the 3rd draft of my English paper (during this entire time frame)
-Casually explored the new Facebook layout
-perused new tweets
-searched "globalization and feeling home" on Google scholars for another English paper
-read an ESPN article about how the Bears won on a "questionable call" (suck it, Lions) while watching Sex and the City (the movie).
-spoke with 2 of my friends (and my brother but he doesn't count) on iChat
-enjoyed the 3rd period of the Blackhawks game from some website that one of those friends on iChat sent me where they stream games live (my slingbox is broken...it's a difficult time for me)
-had a ground breaking discussion with my best friends from home via facebook wall post comments
-continued to write my English paper (due tomorrow)
-attempted to log into the uwbadgers' site for my friend who IMed me having a panic attack about getting Rose Bowl tickets
-failed
-was bombarded with hundreds of generic status updates and tweets from people who did get Rose Bowl tickets (creativity is dead)
-took a gander at this very blog
-bbmed Natalie Berkley to ask her why she thought "hanging out with friends" was relevant to mention in her blog...twice
-received a tweet from @klsachs on my phone saying that tomorrow was our second to last Monday together
-cried because of said tweet
-finished my English paper
-dropped everything I was doing because "The Hasslehoffs" was on television
-watched The Hoff have a serious conversation with his 5 pound dog about how his addiction to alcohol is the same as the dog's addiction to tennis balls.
-watched The Hoff tell his daughter that his dog could have an addiction to balls if he wanted to. His daughter proceeded to tell him that she could only deal with one addict at a time. Touche, baby Hoff.
-watched The Hoff say that he has what you may call "an addictive personality." Understatement of the century.
-wrote this blog

**I am aware that my viewing of "The Hasslehoffs" does not have anything to do with the computer, but it was too good not to share. A&E Sunday nights...enjoy.

  1. I think it's really interesting how we're always constantly doing five things at once. I did the same thing last night, I watched a movie with my roommate while googling images for a project, while texting and chatting on facebook. Thinking about it, I don't know how I don't get super exhausted or how I really pay attention to anything anymore.

  2. Melissa! I wanted to apologize for making you so upset last night with my Tweet! I, too, do not want this semester to end.

However, I think it is very interesting that you utilized many different technologies (TV, computers, phone) at once - you were engaged in so many different activities and still had the ability to concentrate on your school work. I know that when I write papers for school, I need to be in a quiet space with zero distractions (sometimes, I disconnect my computer from the Internet). I envy your ability to multitask!

  3. Melissa, that's really too bad that your slingbox wasn't working last night while you were trying to watch the Blackhawks game. I was able to use my slingbox earlier in the day to watch the Packers beat the 49ers, and then I used it again later in the day to watch the same Blackhawks game you were trying to watch. I'm glad that you were able to find the game being streamed live on a website that your friend gave you though. I know how much the Hawks mean to you, and it's good that you can find that happiness in your life.
