Today I join Snabbo.com from a recommendation from a fellow member on senior.com. Snabbo is a newer, more web 2.0 style of website with much more user activity. It also is more fun to use because people are more sociable on it. This website helps seniors make friendships, find old friendships, or even start dating again. It is more of a social network than senior.com because it allows you to make your own home page and detail where you have worked, lived, your nicknames, organizations you have worked in, and write a little bit about yourself. This website differs from something like Facebook because it gives more indepth directions on how to use the website better. There are more tutorials and explanations about how to create your profile than Facebook has, this is probably because seniors do not have the internet experience that the younger generations do.
To make my profile I once again used my fake name John Connor. I added a little profile note saying that I was John Connor living in Wisconsin, I love sports and wanted to meet new people on Snabbo. The next thing I did was join two groups, people who love 60's music and writing is my passion. In people who love 60's music people were talking about old bands that they remembered like Cat Stevens. Writing is my passion was relatively new so no one had submitted any of their writing yet, but perhaps I will write something to get things going. I also added a lady who went to Michigan State and now lives in Maine as a writer. I will keep digging in this website to see if I can connect with more seniors and see how they use this site and the web in general.
