Yesterday i was on senior.com because I am indeed a member and found that there are no newbies in the senior world. It is expected, at least at this website, that everyone was somewhat new to the internet. Everyone was given the same amount of credibility. I also noticed that when making posts that seniors make short opinionated statements, but do not attack anyone in that site. During the posts a discussion got started, and it was widely accepted that no one wanted this website to become a hooking up or dating website. They were very much against it, and wanted a place only to socialize and discuss senior related topics.
I don't want to discuss much more because I will be presenting today, but I have a few questions to get your mind thinking of niche audiences.
1. Are you generally comfortable when different groups of people enter a website that that group normally doesnt use? (example senior citizens on facebook)
2. Do you generally visit websites that cater your generation, race, grouping ect. or do you visit websites that you see as universal to everyone?
3. Do these niche groups need more websites to represent them?
See you in class
