I have never heard of i-dosing in my 22 years of life, and I can safely say that I was not missing out on anything. I watched Just can't get enough-Effetto LSD (go big or go home, right?) and it was basically a multicolored screen playing "Just can't get enough." Although I do like that song, I had enough. There was a sort of hypnotic effect to the video in that my eyes could barely stay open from staring at the harsh colors for so long, and I needed to hit up the visine afterward. Although I do not regularly dabble with LSD, it is pretty safe to say these videos are a scam.
I think that these videos can have a "placebo effect" on the people watching them. If you really want to believe that they are getting you high, then you will make yourself think that you are high. I could imagine people watching these videos once they are already high, as well, but it does not really do much to get you there.
I totally agree with your 'placebo effect' idea. Did you watch any of the videos of people? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YakjiBEpH7U. This guy is completely out of it, and clearly the people in the background are on something...this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qk_GlIexNf4&feature=related actually had the same reaction I did - I got a huge headache, that's it. Although the graphics are cool sometimes, they cannot make people high.
ReplyDeleteMelissa--I think it's safe to say that the "placebo effect" plays a large role with I-Dosing. It appears that from everyone in this class that you most likely will not get high if you have any doubts beforehand. I have never been on these sites before, nor heard of it so I am quite skeptical of how it works, especially after reading all of these posts of how ridiculous the videos seem to be.
