For the past few weeks, I have been learning the ins and outs of online gaming consoles. Before this assignment, I would have never considered myself a "gamer" and didn't even have my online Xbox live account. The day I was given this topic, I went straight to Gamestop to purchase a gold Xbox live card and the new Madden NFL 2011 game. A couple of my friends were in the process of starting an online franchise complete with a full fantasy draft and after explaining my "homework" assignment, they invited me in. I had never done anything like this before and was anxious to give it a try.
The commissioner of the league, gamer tag G-LINk6523, recruited 12 kids, 2 of which I knew. During the draft, I got the chance to talk and listen to random people from all over the country. The conversations were hilarious and provided constant entertainment in between picks. As of right now, I am still a little shy and hesitant and haven't really unleashed any serious trash talking, but I'm working on it. Each week, I need to play one game against someone else and schedule a time to play via xbox live messaging. Its seems kind of strange to me to plan a specific time with a stranger to play video games but I guess this is the future. My next endeavor is to try out different genres of games online.
