History of the Internet
I think the History of the Internet video was a nice complement to Liz's lecture and helped clarify some of the concepts. The visual aids were easy to follow and simplified some of the more confusing terms and ideas. After watching the video, it was really interesting speaking with my parents about packet switching and the technology involved with the Cold War. Without access to the internet, their college experiences were staggering different and to me, seemed much easier. I have always wondered about the history of the internet, and now, even though I don't have a strong grasp on some of the technological terms, I feel more knowledgeable about how it was started.

I actually just had a discussion with my parents and their college experience as well. It's crazy how much our generation depends on the internet (think South Park... :) ). When the Wisc server is down it seems to be complete craziness around campus. We rely on the internet for sources and social connections while they used much more personal means of communication. We have debated whether the absence of the internet made my parents worked harder for the same amount of work, or if the internet and other technological innovations have made more information available, therefore class content is more difficult...hmm.
