YouTube and Hulu

I watched the Harry Potter trailer for the Part 1 that is coming out this month because I hadn't seen it yet and I bought a midnight ticket for the movie yesterday! When I searched the trailer, it took me directly to the Harry Potter YouTube channel where I then wasted another 20 minutes watching other clips from the movie. I didn't know there was a Harry Potter YouTube channel so that was really interesting, there were a lot of people who had commented on the trailer and other clips...the Harry Potter fans were out in full on that site!

On Hulu, I watched the Rocky Horror Picture Show Glee episode because I don't watch Glee but love Rocky Horror and thought it would be something interesting to watch! I really did not like the commercials, I know that's how Hulu can provide shows for free but what bothered me is that at the end of the ad a box would pop up asking me if I thought the ad pertained to me...how am I supposed to answer that? Unless I have used the product before, I always chose no. I know the difference was that I watched a couple 3 minute clips on YouTube and on Hulu I was trying to watch a full episode but I did not find Hulu worth the effort...if I really wanted to watch an episode I would probably just Netflix it once it comes out on DVD...not exactly the same instant gratification of Hulu but if you're trying to avoid commercials Netflix is probably the only real way to do it.

I have used Hulu in the past to watch clips of shows that have been posted which end up being very helpful because they only come with one ad at the beginning and are less annoying than two commercials every 5 minutes for an entire episode. I subscribe to Netflix so I have options other than Hulu but I use YouTube all the time to watch music videos, commercials, and yes, I do tend to succumb to the viral video fads!
