Practicum 3

So I've realized that as I've been playing around on Kongregate, I have neglected to post my progress on the blog. I've been playing around a lot with the multiplayer games and aspects of the site. There are numerous types of games that can be appealing to all different kinds of people. I will talk more about this tomorrow during my presentation, but I've discovered that there is a whole other aspect of Kongregate that I didn't know about before. There are several different types of multiplayer games that you can play. I tried one in which I would go up against another player in head-to-head match ups. I also tried a car racing game in which I would race other players. There were also games that were similar to World of Warcraft in that you would connect to a network and play with any number of people, each doing their own thing in the game.

In preparation for my presentation tomorrow, I am posting my questions so that you will be able to look at them ahead of time and think about this kind of gaming website.
1) Do the characteristics of a social networking site like Facebook or MySpace, added to a gaming website, make it any more appealing?
2) When people play on these kinds of sites, do you think they play and act as themselves or take on a different persona?
