E-Dosing

I ventured around Youtube and tried out some "i-dosing" today by watching a few Youtube videos designed to get me "high." I started out with the Millennium Bug video. I found it very hard to sit through the whole ten minute video, which consisted of nothing more than a trance/techno song put to a cheap visualizer. Unfortunately, I failed to feel any effect from the video other than boredom. I then tried a video going for an LSD effect. Instead of trance music, this video seemed to feature an 80's song, set to a tie-dye circular image. Again, I found myself very bored watching this video and felt no noticeable changes.

Just as I was about to give up on getting "high" from the internet, I found a short video that again promised to induce an LSD-esque high. This video consisted of a trance/techno song set to a visualizer consisting of black and white lines in constant motion. It actually worked in a way. After staring at the screen for 2 minutes, everything I looked at was pulsating. It appeared as if everything I looked was "wavy." The pulsations lasted for around one minute, after which my vision returned to normal. I don't think I am ever going to try this again though, since it hurt my eyes to watch the video. It was kind of fun though, I would try it out once if your eyes aren't too sensitive. The music was also worthless - I could have watched the video without sound and it would have had the same effect.

Overall, i-dosing seems pretty harmless, with the only effective methods being to induce a short term "visual high."
