history of the internet

The internet is the most widely used tool for gathering information in our society but I would bet that very few people are aware of its origins. This video was quite useful in tracing the internet back to its roots and presenting this history in simple language that is easy to understand. I found the use of animations to be particularly useful in helping the viewer grasp the more technical aspects of how the internet works. The video's use of history also helped in making logical arguments for how the internet was set up; for example, the Cuban missile crisis as reasoning for a decentralized network.
As for the actual information presented in the video, I thought it was quite useful in clarifying and reinforcing last week's lectures. Although a complete detailed history of the internet is impossible to present in an eight minute video, this video lays a solid foundation to build upon and gives the viewer a basic understanding of how the most frequently used technology in our society came to be.
