Brett Vickerman

Hey guys, I'm Brett, a senior majoring in communication arts (film/TV/radio) and social welfare. I'm not really sure what I want to do with my life but I could see myself doing most aspects of film and TV (promotional design, writing, producing, acting, etc.) and I have an overall goal of helping people in some way. So maybe I'll combine them and be Dr. Phil? Or I can just help people by making them laugh and donate to charity, who knows.

I'm from Waukesha, which is about an hour east of Madison near Milwaukee. Check it out sometime, it's a nice place.

My strongest communication arts interest is television and I know way too much about TV for my own good. I was obsessed with LOST and 24, both of which recently died. But I am not ashamed to admit I religiously watch Desperate Housewives. That show is epic. I also am waiting for SMALLVILLE to die gracefully (but seriously, it's been 10 years, let's go). And I love FRIENDS. I'm more picky with movies but my favorite of all time is Clue based on the board game.

This class seemed really interesting to me because who stops and thinks about the internet? I mean, we all use it all the time and hardcore take advantage of it. I'm really intrigued to find out how this all started and how the phases of use occurred. And having had Liz as a TA, I know she'll rock it. :)

Random fact: I interned last summer at Z104 and found out that most of the DJs are not live on the radio during their shows. Also, if you request a song, they can move it around to play earlier if it's in the pre-set list of songs for the day but they can't add it in.
