Recently, there has been some movement on these social networks. Luckily with timing, many more people are becoming active on LinkedIn. Many students, mainly seniors, have been joining this network in hopes of getting their name out there. I'm now up to 22 connections with people, leading me to many more. Although I have these connections, there is no interaction between me and them. The only things that I do with these friends is see who they are friends with. I have also been having technical issues updating my resume to the site and expanding my profile. When looking at the connections on LinkedIn, there is great organization on how to find who you are in touch with. Other than that, there still is no major connection with others aside from seeing their friends/connections.
In addition to LinkedIn, 43 things has had some slight excitement. For the new year, they have been placing more ideas for resolutions for many. They have added a column on the side of the homepage that is meant for resolutions and some statistics. You can see the most popular resolutions and yearly trends, etc. Besides from these, I finally got a reaction to my study abroad post. "Mysticlady143" has "cheered" my post. This means that she read what I wrote and hopefully found something helpful.
I think that LinkedIn will become a more useful tool when you start applying for jobs. I have a LinkedIn account to (find me!) and I haven't used it that much. I was told by recent graduates this this website becomes more advantageous when you enter in the job world. Right now, it is just a place for us to make connections for the future.

I joined LinkedIn awhile ago and just started using it again. I got an email from them saying 'connect with these people.' Each of the people they suggested I had some sort of contact with, but was very confused as to how they knew that. Two of the people I had only emailed with and was a little freaked out how this website thought I knew them. I agree and think this website will become more relevant to people when they are actually applying to jobs.
ReplyDeleteI am still new to the LinkedIn site and don't know if it is creepy to 'connect' with people who I've had minor interactions with or who were workers at a company I've interned for. I think once I start applying for jobs this website will become more useful and I'll learn the ropes of it.
