Plants vs. Zombies

Ok, so I'm probably the picture of a non-gamer if you were to look it up in a dictionary. I just don't play video or computer games and I never have. I never had good enough internet to play when I was a kid and never got into it in my teen years. I'd much rather be doing something in the real world.

That said, I did enjoy Plants vs. Zombies. I appreciated the simple graphics, the short loading time, and the fact that within 20 seconds with my limited knowledge of gaming, I could grasp what I was supposed to do. The concept of the game is endearing - to protect your house from intruders. I think it's very smart to play with a real-life concept and add a fantasy twist when formulating video game concepts vs. something completely fictitious, but I digress.

The key to this game was strategy - where to plant things and to what end. Obviously the sunflowers served to slow down the zombies but they also were easily eaten by them after a short period of time. The peathrowers were my favorites because they never failed after a few shots to take the zombie down. I got to the third level and they added the cherry bomb. I actually didn't use the cherry bomb but I appreciated the fact that I got a new tool to use if need be. The lawnmowers were fun too and I had no idea that when the zombie was up against it it would start going and slaughter it. The sun points were helpful (and the fact that they didn't disappear right away was nice), but it took me a little while for me to understand that every time I downloaded a sunflower, I was taking away my ability to get a peathrower or cherry bomb. I didn't quite catch onto the game quick enough and was invaded near the bitter end of level three.

I enjoyed my brief foray into the game but purposely didn't try again to make a point. I didn't have enough interest in playing again. I'm not a gamer and I had a lot of homework I was trying to catch up on and it wasn't addicting enough for me to go for round two. Maybe if I had more time when I played it, I would've kept going, but it just seemed like a waste of time to me - enjoyable but definitely unnecessary.
